Tax Managers and above within the Tax Team
Summary of Job Function
At LGA, our primary focus is on our people. As a Tax Supervisor in LGA's tax service line, you will gain hands-on experience working with one of our three specialized groups:
- Business Group: Focus on C-Corps, S-Corps, and Partnerships, handling tax filings for complex partnerships, multi-state businesses, and international operations, with minimal individual tax filings.
- Enterprise Group: Work with C-Corps, S-Corps, Partnerships, and related 1040s/1041s, preparing/reviewing tax returns for owner-operated businesses in New England and their business owners.
- Private Client Group: Specialize in Personal, Trust, Estate, and Gift tax filings, serving high-net-worth individuals and their families, with limited entity return preparation and review.

Essential Job Duties
- Proficient in the preparation of Corporate, Partnership, and Individual tax returns
- Demonstrates an ability to prepare multi-state income tax returns
- Accounting knowledge with non-attest engagements and the preparation of accounting and tax work papers, and reconciliations
- Flexibility to manage a fast-paced environment, multiple client projects, and meet all deliverables and deadlines, especially during busy season
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates as ongoing commitment to continuing education and professional growth
- Experience in supervising, training and mentoring staff
- Preparation of high-net-worth individual, estates, and trust tax returns is a plus
- Ability to research tax issues is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for excellence
- Positive attitude focused on enhancing the firm's culture and an open-mindedness to change
- Has developed a solid technical base as it relates to federal, MA and multi-state tax issues and has gained experience on various types of tax entities; is assuming/preparing more complex tax assignments
- Has a more in-depth knowledge of basic tax and accounting issues; able to perform more difficult tax research and prepare preliminary documentation (with supervision)
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively use CCH Engagement, CCH Tax, BNA and other tax tools on client engagements
- Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and the ability to apply this knowledge to difficult areas or complex client engagements. Recognizes potential accounting issues and presents possible solutions to the individual responsible for the engagement
- Applies an in-depth understanding of the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations to which each client is subject and helps Associates to develop and apply this knowledge
- Keeps current on tax law changes and communicates to Associates the anticipated impact of these changes on client engagements
- Reviews Associate research, work processes and conclusions to ensure clarity, completeness, and accuracy
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field
- Master's in Accountancy or Tax or a plan to pursue preferred
- CPA or EA certification or a plan to pursue preferred
- 4-6 years' experience in related field
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Experience with the CCH Suite of Products (ProSystem fx Tax, Engagement, Document, Portal) is a plus.
- Ability to review and troubleshoot tax software issues and guide junior staff in usage.
- Comfortable working in a technology-driven, paperless environment.
- Strong organizational skills, detail oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency and be flexible in tasks and time while managing your workload with adjustments to your schedule especially during peak workload times in the service line.
- Ability to mentor and train junior team members, providing constructive feedback.
- Acts as a culture carrier, ensuring alignment with the firm's vision and values
